When breeding is done right it's more than a hobby or a job, it's a lifestyle. Almost all of Brooke's entire adult life has been breeding. Her husband, now deceased, was her mentor as he bred and raised champion dogs for over forty years. His dogs are well known across Canada and the USA and many of his lines still being bred today.

With her love of animals, Brooke first started breeding cats.  She enjoyed the show ring and the friends she made who shared her passion for animals.  When her husband got sick, being in the show ring was no longer possible so her vet suggested breeding doodles.  Since doodles are not show dogs, Brooke took her vet's advice and purchased her first Old English sheepdog (Buzz) and that was the beginning of Silver Lake Doodles..  Fast forward through 15 years of hard work and dedication, Silver Lake Doodles has grown into a successful family business. Both Brooke and her son Mitchell enjoy breeding their dogs and sharing their puppies with people who have chosen to make them a part of their family.
 

Brooke and her family made breeding their life for many reasons and one of them is to support mental illness.  It is a great honour for her family to support the military and donate their doodles to become therapy dogs for soldiers suffering with PTSD. Telling people why as a family they do this and work 24/7 is simple; they love their dogs and the joy they give them and bring to others.
